How to increase your Typing Speed?

How to increase your Typing Speed?

Well, recently anywhere I go, people are fascinated by how fast I type and they wanna learn how to do that themselves.

So, Today I am going to show just that. But Full Disclosure, This is not mandatory for you to do in any tech-specific job as far as I know BUT

Increasing your typing speed makes you more efficient, as the faster your speed the faster you can work.

I am now going to show 2 apps or websites that you can use and how to use them in order to increase your speed in a month.

KeyBr

  • I personally like keyBr because it helps me set my hands around my keyboard. Because most of the time it's not your speed but your position, as in your hands don’t know where the keys are

and KeyBr is brilliant at that.

Try positioning your hand as it's shown in the app on the keyboard. and then KeyBR will check which keys you are getting the most problem clicking then they will add that character to your next lesson, so your hands get the idea of which key to press.

    1. Set the timer for around 45 to 50 minutes as your daily challenge in the beginning, make this your healthy obsession, there will surely come times when the daily time is complete and yet you will practice because you will like the feeling of it.

    2. Also, don’t forget to check Add Capital letters and use the SHIFT key to capitalize a letter. and not the Caps Lock.

    3. don’t click on the Backspace. firstly because here it won’t work and secondly because that’s a habit that you need to leave.

MonkeyType

  • Now, Monkey type is easy to use, Try using Monkey type only to increase your speed and test yourself against yourself.

It's more of a challenging game, unlike KEybr.

    1. And while typing here try your best to not look at the keyboard.

    2. Get in the habit of clicking the backspace and if the whole word is wrong then Ctrl+Backspace. Do this consciously enough and it will become a habit.

Now aside from these two one more tip, I would like to give is.

  • Don’t stop typing after you have increased your speed. You don’t need to practice it that often but you do need to Type Often.

  • For that, I would recommend Either typing daily

  1. Diaries,

  2. Stories,

  3. Note making,

  4. Blogging, or

    • something along those lines where you have to bring your mind to the table whilst typing.
  • You might think that is not helping but believe me, it does help a lot
  • And during the time you are practicing, the rule is you are going to practice on these apps for 45 to 50 min. and not to type for 45 to 50 only a day. so, Keep typing other than these practice hours.
